Tomorrow is International FASD Awareness Day

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental conditions in Scotland, affecting more than 275,000 people, yet it often goes unrecognised.

FASD can occur when alcohol is consumed during pregnancy, which is why the UK Chief Medical Officers advise that those who are pregnant, or planning a pregnancy, avoid alcohol completely.

✅ FASD is preventable.
✅ Early recognition and support can make a significant difference.

✅FASD is a lifelong, neurodevelopmental condition, often referred to as a hidden disability.

✅Each person with FASD is affected differently.

✅Each person with FASD has both strengths and challenge

✅FASD is estimated to be 3-5 times more prevalent than autism and on par with typical ADHD.

✅ Awareness helps reduce stigma and improve outcomes.
