About Us

The South Lanarkshire Alcohol & Drug Partnership (ADP) is a dedicated multi-agency partnership that has strategic responsibility for developing local strategies for tackling, reducing and preventing alcohol and drug use in the four localities of South Lanarkshire, namely Clydesdale, East Kilbride, Hamilton and Rutherglen/Cambuslang. It also has responsibility for planning and commissioning services to deliver improved core and local outcomes, taking into account local needs, circumstances and resources.

SLADP is made up of a number of key partner agencies who have an interest in early intervention, prevention, providing treatment and intervention for people experiencing problem alcohol and drug use.

SLADP has an Executive Board, and a Finance Group whose core functions for governance and finance are to provide a forum to ensure that the business objectives of the ADP are delivered. Each ADP also has an identified ADP Chair

Scottish Government’s Partnership Delivery Framework guidance (2019) is that the SLADP is expected to be the body that strategically brings together the contributions of diverse partners and, through doing so, comprehensively delivers on Rights, Respect and Recovery. Consequently, it is the responsibility of the partner members of the SLADP to agree strategic priorities and favoured approaches and set a framework within which partner delivery organisations and the SLADP staff team then operate.

The operational delivery of specific services and interventions is the responsibility of the individual members of the SLADP / commissioned services.



South Lanarkshire ADP Support Team

Each ADP is supported by a small dedicated team focusing on the operation, delivery and outcomes of commissioned services to address local needs and issues in relation to alcohol and drugs within a public health framework.

The primary function of the SLADP’s support team is assist the ADP to fulfil its strategic function; offering insight and guidance, bringing forward recommendations in respect of the ring-fenced budget and gathering evidence from partners to demonstrate fulfilment of the strategic priorities.
